Rules and Expectations
Expectations for practices:
Expectations for meets:
- Athletes are expected to attend all practices unless
- the athlete was absent from school.
- the athlete has obtained prior written or email permission from a coach.
- Missed practices will result in benching from meets, removal from relay teams, and/or removal from the track team. Track is NOT an individual sport. If you skip practice you are letting down your team.
- Athletes are expected to have appropriate clothing and shoes for practice. You may not practice in street shoes, bare feet, jeans, or other non-athletic attire. If you do not have appropriate clothing for practice, you will be counted as absent from practice.
- Athletes who are able may drive themselves and any family member to and from practice but may NOT transport any other person under any circumstances. This is a legal matter and is grounds for immediate suspension or expulsion from the team for all parties involved.
Expectations for meets:
- Athletes are expected to attend all meets in which they are entered. The running schedule and entries for each meet will be posted on this website at least one week prior to the meet date.
- All athletes are expected to ride the bus to AND FROM each meet. Without prior written or email approval, athletes will not be allowed to leave a meet with parents or friends.
- Except under extraordinary circumstances, athletes are expected to stay through the last race of the day. You need to support and encourage team members, and/or you may be needed to substitute for another runner.
- At meets, athletes are expected to be good representatives of DHS at all times. This includes being on time to events, showing good sportsmanship as participants and spectators, and helping coaches as needed.
